As of last Weds. November 24th we had the opportunity to promote our first female to the yellow belt. Blair Hedrick has been training with us at our academy for close to eight months now and she’s a perfect example of a dedicated and passionate human being. From the first time Blair stepped in our doors we knew she was a special person and she’s continued to prove this day in and day out since. Always coming to class with a positive attitude and helping others with technique and supporting their efforts.
A few of the things that we admire most about Blair’s consistency is the fact that she suffers from asthma. In a hot and sometimes claustrophobic environment this could be discouraging, but as far as we could tell she used this as motivation to keep on pushing herself to the limit. Now the main thing we are most impressed with is that Blair has been consistently training the last five months while being pregnant, at the advice from her doctor of course. Although she hasn’t been able to do most of the “rolling” and positional sparring, she still does the workouts and technique and she always comes in for open mat to drill and help other students. All in all, Blair Hedrick is one of our favorite people to have in the academy and I know all of the other students feel the same. Way to be an inspiration to all of us and congratulations on your promotion. Check out the photo below of her receiving the yellow belt!
